Charlotte will work with you to set goals for your Neuro Physiotherapy treatment. Treatment itself may consist of exercise, functional task practice or education/advice to help you get back to doing what you love.
For some individuals living with degenerative neurological conditions, Neuro Physiotherapy can help to maintain what independence that you have or look to find new ways of doing things when a condition progresses.

Charlotte will arrange a visit that is at a convenient time for you. On the initial assessment she will need to take some history about your neurological condition, any other medical conditions that you have, any medication you are taking and details of how you are managing day to day tasks.
She will then complete a physical assessment to see where there might be difficulties in areas such as strength, balance, coordination, sensation, vision and so on. From her assessment she will then be able to work with you to set goals for the sessions. Common examples are:
-Increasing independence with walking
-Being able to complete a certain task
She will then work with you during the rest of the session to complete exercises/tasks that will work towards your goals.
After the session Charlotte will send you over an exercise program to complete at home in between the Neuro Physiotherapy visits.
-
This really varies from person to person and is dependent on what the goal of treatment is.
Some clients may want a short burst of therapy to help them achieve a specific goal. Others may want ongoing support to help them manage their neurological condition and to aid adherence to exercise.
